Fort D.A. Russell/Frontier Days 2010

The first weekend of Frontier Days the base always has Fort D.A. Russell Days. There is a lot of history involved that is very interesting. Unfortunately the boys didn't think so. They just wanted to see the helicopter, fire trucks and police dogs. We spent about two hours looking at those and then were done. The boys were very excited to sit in the helicopter and pretend to fly.

They also got to pretend to put out a fire. They loved looking at all the gadgets on the fire truck and sitting in the drivers seat. One of the firemen was one of our friends and he turned on the lights and sirens for the boys. Manti was in heaven, he loves fire trucks so that made his day.

They also had these fun things to take pictures. The boys looked so cute in them.

I couldn't get Manti to look at me. He was too busy watching all the other people around him.
One of the days Troy's work was in charge of clean up after the rodeo. The boys and I decided to go walk around while he was doing that and Sebastien saw the motorcycle ride. He is obsessed with motorcycles and kept asking to ride them. I told him we needed to wait for daddy to finish cleaning and he about had a meltdown. After a little talk he decided he would be a big boy and patiently wait. Manti was too small for this ride which made for a very sad, unhappy two year old.

This is the only motorcycle ride he will ever have! (As long as I have control anyway.)

One of our absolute favorite things about Frontier Days is the Thunderbirds Air Show. We have never been down to the community college that they fly over but there is a hill right by our house that we go to. From the hill you can see a lot of their cool tricks but I think it would be fun to be right under the action. Two months later, the boys are still talking about it and are always asking if we can go watch the jets.

The boys and I watching the jets. This was the day before Emree was born, I never thought I got that big, obviously I was WRONG!

The final departure. The boys thought it was so cool!

After the air show we went to the fair grounds to walk around. At first we walked by the rodeo queens and waved but then Troy thought it would be cool to have the boys take a picture with a couple of them.

Manti LOVED the girl in blue. After we took the first picture, he walked right over and sat on her lap for about ten minutes while she signed pictures for other people. It was so funny!

We took Grandma Egnew to the Indian Village to listen to them sing and dance. The boys even had a few turns to dance with their friends and at the end got a ring pop for participating. It was so cute to watch all the kids trying out the Indian dances. Thanks Shannon for helping the boys!

There were a ton of rides but only a few Sebastien could do. Last year we talked about letting him do the train ride but I couldn't pay $3 for three laps around the track. This year we gave in and he loved it. Poor Manti couldn't even do this! Maybe next year buddy!

He was very excited and had a blast. It didn't bother him one bit that he was sitting next to some kid he didn't know. Hopefully next year the boys can do rides together. On the other hand that just means more money!
The one thing we didn't get to do this year that we were planning was the Sugarland concert. (It was on Friday the 30th.) Little miss Emree decided to make her arrival the day before, I was NOT gonna be going. I kept telling Troy to just call someone to go with him but he decided to sell the tickets instead and stay at the hospital with us girls. I felt so bad because I knew how excited he was for the concert. We are hoping they come again next year!
