Way back in March, (I know, so far behind), Troy had eye surgery at the Air Force Academy. It was a nerve racking process but we are so happy everything turned out perfectly! Troy was a big trooper and handled the pain very well. He got a lot of rest and even a little bored from getting so much rest. The kids and I were there with him the whole time since he couldn't drive until the doctor gave him permission. It was a little rough on the kids, being stuck in not one, not two but THREE different hotel rooms over 5 days. We tried to keep busy by coloring, watching movies, playing outside and taking many trips to the BX. I think I was the only one who really struggled with the whole thing but I survived!
We found this ball on one of our many trips to the BX. This ball was quickly named "Spiderman" because of the colors. It was very entertaining watching the boys come up with their own games to play.

Who knows what he was doing. I guess just being a silly goose who loves to do anything BUT smile when I take his picture.
She really enjoyed scooting around on the wood floors. We tried putting a blanket on the floor for her, but that just became more frustrating for all of us. So, off she went.
The first couple of nights we were there, our hotel room was right across from this fun playground. The boys were thrilled to be outside while daddy was resting. Swings, slides and monkey bars to climb, what 3 and 2 year old wouldn't love that?
Running and jumping into the swing was the highlight of the morning.
Little man gave it his best shot but was a little too short so he had a hard time making it onto the swing.
The slides are always a family favorite. I don't know what is was about him sticking his tongue out for every picture. BOYS!
How do you know when little man needs a hair cut?? When his hair starts flapping in the wind!

More swing time. They really could have done this all day if I would have let them.
Doodle bug wasn't quite sure about her surroundings but she eventually got over the new place and went about discovering new things to get into.
There was even a small snow storm that the boys thought was fun to play in. It wasn't too cold so they had fun trying to catch the snow in their hands.
Troy was feeling pretty good day two of recovering so we decided to take the kids out on an adventure. We had heard a lot about The Garden of the Gods and decided it might be fun to check out. We all really enjoyed being out of the hotel and enjoying nature.
Superman and Batman came to visit our hotel room. They were running all around saving each other from the bad guys. They were running super fast with their cool capes too. A fun night of cheap entertainment.
Troy took the boys for a little hike that ended up being more than they bargained for. They all still had a great time and it was a good way for the boys to burn off some energy while I got things cleaned and packed up to switch hotel rooms.
Sebastien found a cool "walking stick" that he took along their whole journey and even back to the hotel. He was very disappointed when it mysteriously disappeared.
Up the mountain they go!
And they made it. Daddy was so proud.
Doodle Bug got her first bite of ice cream. She loved it but ended up with a little rash around her mouth. She was pretty upset when we wouldn't give her anymore.
Our "Three Amigos" snuggling on the bed before bedtime. They all love each other so much and get along great. They were so great during everything, it made me even happier that I get to be their mom.
We even got to see this big group of elk. The kids thought this was pretty cool. We stopped and watched them for a while and Sebastien couldn't figure out why Daddy wouldn't shoot one.
We were so thankful for a get away and that Troy's surgery went well. He is glasses free and LOVING it!
