DOGS!!

I know a lot of people who have dogs and really don't mind them. However, there is one BIG reason we don't have a dog and this is it....
This is a picture of the yard behind our fence COVERED in dog poop! This has been an ongoing issue since December and I am so sick of it. Being on base, we can get in trouble for that. We made a phone call to the housing office and specifically told them we do not have a dog, have seen other dogs pooping in our yard and are NOT going to clean it up. They had no arguments about it but still nothing was done. The weather hasn't been too bad lately which means the boys have been doing a lot of playing outside. It really irritates me that anytime a ball or some other toy goes over the fence, we have to try and avoid the piles and piles of poop. Manti really doesn't understand that it's gross and he runs through it or accidentally picks up a piece when trying to get the toys.

Today I reached my limit with this mess and spent an hour or more cleaning it all up. I tried talking to both my neighbors (who both have dogs) to use their claw things to clean up poop but just my luck, theirs were broken. I then tried using one of the boys sand shovels and quickly realized that it would take all day to scoop up each pile. The funny thing was that Manti was out there with me, pointed to the grass and said, "another one mommy." I then resorted to getting the rake and "real" shovel out. I ended up raking three big piles of poop and bagging it up. It was so disgusting. The next time I see a dog pooping behind our fence without an owner to pick it up, I am going to take a picture and take it to housing. Sorry for the bad attitude, ranting and raving...I really don't hate dogs, just the fact that people can't clean up after them.

I know exactly how you feel!! We had a common area right out in front of our old town house that people would let thier dogs poop in and wouldn't clean it up!! We had a dog but she's small and these were GIANT piles of poop! It's infuriating isn't it?! We actually made signs and posted them around the area which did seem to help a little bit. Good luck!!

You are so nice! I hate DOGS! That is why we can't have one until Meridith is 10. I hope the next two years creep slowly by! I can't believe you cleaned it all up!
