Big Boy Now

Everyday Sebastien does something new to surprise me. It is such a bitter sweet feeling to see him grow up. He is becoming such a big boy and I just wanted to jot down a few things he has done in the last week or so.


We are attempting potty training, I know it is still a little early but he always seems interested in the toilet. When I see him starting to poop, I ask him if he wants to sit on the potty. He use to reply with a quick "NO" but now he says "Yeah! I go store buy train?" The first time he pooped on the potty we did spoil him with a new train. I quickly realized that could get really expensive and decided to print a "train potty chart" off the internet. Anytime he goes to the bathroom on the toilet he picks out a sticker and places it on the chart. Once the track is filled with stickers, he will get a new toy (of his choice). I am not pushing him to use the toilet (yet) but do try to encourage it. He is doing really well and has 5 stickers on the chart so far.

This past Sunday as I was getting the diaper bag packed for church he told me he wanted to sit on the potty. I took him in, sat him down and he said, "Go other room mommy." I left him to do his business and then heard his little feet patter down the hallway. He ran in the kitchen and with great excitement said "Mommy, come here, come look!" I was a little worried at what I was going to find...he took me to the bathroom, over to the toilet and showed me what he had done! (You can use your imagination for the rest :) ) I was so excited...not only for him staying on the toilet but to see him so proud of himself! Hopefully things continue to go well in this department.


Okay, enough of the "potty" talk.


The other little story I wanted to jot down pertains to him "helping himself".


He has figured out that if he pushes really hard, he can knock down the baby gate in his doorway. His normal routine is to go in Manti's room to play, however, that also changed this week. Monday morning as I snuggled in my bed listening to Manti talk I heard the gate "crash". I slowly got up, got dressed and went to Manti's room only to find Sebastien was NOT there. I ran downstairs and saw him sitting on the couch eating something. Still half asleep and not exactly happy, I asked him what he was doing. In a cute little voice he said "Eating a pop tart. Look mom, I cut it." Sure enough, the little stinker had gone downstairs, to the pantry, got pop tarts, to the utility drawer, grabbed scissors and CUT the package open, all in a matter of 3 minutes! I didn't even know he knew how to use scissors! All I could do was giggle and just be thankful he didn't cut his fingers off. My days of lounging in bed in the mornings are officially OVER!

Spray Park & More Fun

With the summer being so short here we have really been taking advantage of getting out of the house. We have done a lot of playing outside, walking, going to the spray park etc....

He enjoyed playing on the slides more then in the water. I think next time we will just go to the FREE park to play on the slides. ;)

He is really contemplating this whole water thing....he has got to test it with his feet first.

Never mind, he just stands there and watches the water. I think I forced him in and that was the end of that.

Manti liked the slide at the spray park too. I love his cute little belly.

The boys are starting to learn that they have to SHARE! It doesn't always turn out well but they are getting better.

Manti was not a big fan of swimming in the little pool. Who could blame him-the water never gets warm and it's always windy.

Sebastien loves to help Troy water the grass. This is usually what he plays with when we are outside. He knows how to set up the sprinkler and turn on the water all by himself. If you are in the backyard, watch out or you WILL get wet! Ha!

When Manti was learning how to walk he loved to push this toy around the yard.

Sebastien is our little athlete. He loves to play volleyball with mom and baseball with dad. Here he is showing off his awesome batting stance!

Family Fun

The beginning of June we had some visitors for a week....the whole Cahoon Family! Yay! We had so much fun showing them around Cheyenne and hanging out. I think the best part was watching the kids play together.

The kids are playing at the "spin park". They had so much fun and I was happy that we made it without anyone throwing up!

We took all the kids to see "Up" in 3-D. They all enjoyed it and loved getting a balloon after the movie. In fact, Sebastien thinks anytime we go to a movie now, he will get a balloon. This was the best picture I could get of the kids. They were too excited to stop for a picture.

One of the things we did with the family was EXTREME BOWLING! The base has free bowling on Wednesday's and we decided that would be something fun for everyone.

Olivia had so much fun laying under the balls and playing peek-a-boo with the camera. She has such a fun personality.

1st Birthday

On July 11th my little baby boy turned 1! We have had an eventful year with him and are so happy to have him in our family. We celebrated the day by getting our "birthday" donuts, playing at the park, going to a friend's birthday party, baby showers (well, that was just mom), babysitting and finally CAKE! We also had a few friends over a few days later for cake and ice cream when Aunt Wendi was in town . What a lucky boy, he got to dig into 2 cakes! Here are some pictures from Manti's birthday festivities....

I didn't get a picture of Manti with a birthday donut but Sebastien wasn't shy to show his off. I think he even picked them out for Manti. What a good big brother.

AGAIN!

Once again I find myself way BEHIND in posting about our family adventures. Please forgive me as I try to play catch up. Maybe one of these days I will post things as they happen...

Depot Days

Every year the Train Depot has a big event Memorial weekend called "Depot Days". Sebastien's love for trains has become a big family activity so we decided to go. It was a rainy, cold weekend but we wanted to check it out anyway. Saturday morning they had a breakfast, train rides and a train museum. We got up early and headed out.


The boys and I are enjoying the biscuits and gravy, watermelon and orange juice at Depot Days. I am not the biggest fan of biscuits and gravy but I will admit, it was yummy!

The train rides were cancelled due to the weather but when we walked inside the depot, this is what we saw....
They had train tracks up all over and the electric trains going. Sebastien was in HEAVEN! He stood there for about 10 minutes watching the trains go by. I even got him to turn around for a split second to take a picture.
Troy was as thrilled as Sebastien and walked around all the different booths looking at trains people were selling. They ranged from $3 to $350...
While Troy looked around, I parked the stroller against the wall and the boys just sat there and watched the trains go by. They were so cute!

Next was the museum...they had a lot of cool pictures to look at and also the history of Cheyenne.
This was one of the sections in the museum, I thought it was the perfect spot to take a picture.

They had a small play area for the kids in the museum. Manti liked sitting in the Thomas Train but was really sad when other kids wanted to sit in it and he had to get out.
No surprise here, Sebastien liked playing with the train table. I am still trying to decide if this is really a good thing to have in the museum. Every kid wanted to play with it at the same time and all it did was cause fights and crying...what do you think?

We were also very lucky to be able to tour the repair shop. We got to see the largest operating steam engine! It was in for minor repairs, we loved it! It was HUGE!

While the big boys were touring the trains, Manti and I stood in the shop looking at this...
This was Manti's favorite thing! Sebastien loved all the trains and Manti loved the GIANT ceiling fan. After 4 and a half hours looking at trains we called it quits and headed home for nap time! Sebastien was sad to leave but was so exhausted from all the fun he fell asleep as soon as we got in the car. I think this will be our Memorial weekend tradition as long as we live in Cheyenne.

OH......HAIL!!

This post is late but I still wanted to share it...Troy and I went out to dinner and a movie, kid free, with some friends about a month ago. It was a perfect, sunny day when we went to dinner. An hour or so later when we went to the movie, dark clouds came blowing in very FAST! The movie theater we went to was in downtown Cheyenne. Parking is always a challenge and we had to drive around for a few minutes. Troy tried to drop me off but I was stubborn and said I would just wait and walk with him. As we continued looking for a place to park, it started to rain. I thought to myself "No big deal. We will just walk fast." We ended up about three blocks away from the theater and right as we were getting out of the car it started to HAIL! We had to RUN, and FAST! Of course I was wearing 4 inch shoes and forgot a belt that night so there I was trying to run (trying so hard not to fall) and we got stuck waiting at every crosswalk! There was nothing we could do but laugh. By the time we got to the movie theatre, we were both SOAKED!! I had to go into the bathroom and get a paper towel to ring out my hair while Troy found seats. We sat in a very humid theatre for the next 2 hours and never dried off. Troy said to me, "I bet the next time I say I will drop you off, you will actually get out of the car." He is RIGHT!
